Chesterfield Place

Campion Hruby Landscape Architects

Congratulations to Campion Hruby Landscape Architects for their Chesterfield Place project in Washington DC. Jurors applauded the project’s good design moves, with elegant, well-constructed detailing.

Merit Award in Residential Design

The Chesterfield garden unfolds as a series of modern garden rooms perched on a hillside, collectively descending thirty feet from street level to Broad Branch Creek. The pool, inspired by the courtyard at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, extends the width of the garden and draws the eye out to the forest.

The lower terrace has lounge seating and an outdoor kitchen, a modern outdoor setting for clients who entertain frequently.

An aerial view of the pool reveals the careful arrangement of spaces and levels.

With the main basin and spa on the upper level and a shallow basin on the lower level, the pool reads as a fountain, while offering recreation for all ages.
