Charlotte’s
Web - A Veritable Smorgasbord For All!
While Wilbur the pig is fed multiple times a day by the farmer, Charlotte the spider must find her own food and take what she can of whatever comes across her path. Her web helps her do that, and her web also ultimately saves her friend, Wilber’s, life. Similarly, our communities form webs to help protect the most vulnerable among us. Charlotte’s Web was first published in 1952 and explores themes such as innocence, change, and growing up. Even as they grow older and learn that life can be more complicated than originally thought, the characters in the story always show great kindness to one another. We chose to depict the radiant Wilbur and his barnyard as a reminder that even as our lives may be more complicated than ever, if we too remain humble and kind we can make a big difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors.
