HOKJurors appreciated the excellent use of green roofs and courtyards to create views of nature from the headquarters’ interior spaces. Noting the work’s excellent reclamation of previous surfacing, the jurors rightly found this a “very beautiful project.”
Honor Award in Design Built
Formerly anchored in a sea of asphalt in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, the 27-acre site now showcases a restorative design centered on environmental responsibility, employee well-being and protecting iconic vistas of the adjacent Palisades Interstate Park.
Green roofs run alongside PV modules atop the office wings and parking garage. The design increased on-site green space by 50 percent and reduced impervious area by more than a third.
The main building entry features green walls inspired by Korean topographical patterns, as it promotes employee wellness by offering abundant landscape views and connections to the natural environment.
Nearly a mile of walking trails weave through restored woodlands, Korean gardens adjacent to a retention pond, a basketball court, a Great Lawn, and landscaped terraces.
