Taylor Farm Park Master Plan

The jurors appreciated the project’s commitment to preserve the existing woodland. Noting how the perspective renderings gave a great sense of the space, one juror exclaimed, “I want to go there!”

A new, 100-acre park in Sandston, Virginia, will feature zones for active recreation, nature-based play, and neighborhood programming, using a stream and surrounding wetlands to divide between neighborhood activities and regional attractions.

The park is envisioned to preserve as many trees as possible, using selective interplanting to promote biodiversity and seasonal interest, with wood-dominated play structures that reinforce the park’s natural theme.

Amenity areas are connected by meandering paths and boardwalk overlooks, letting visitors enjoy the woodland scenery.

Offering amenities to meet the needs of many different age groups, the park includes challenging courses for skateboarding and other wheeled sports, with features spanning a wide range of difficulty levels.
