Juror Comments:
“The notion of Dancers in the Dark … was a subtle but inspiring surprise that gave hope to 2020 and revealed joy for 2021. The sharp contrast between black and white and between the scale of the silhouettes and the monuments was powerfully composed. It is an unforgettable image when thinking about DC.”
—Francesca Franchi

“At first glance this is a well composed image of a somewhat predictable “post card” scene. Then you notice the two silhouetted figures perfectly placed and posed at the bottom adding a note of exuberant happiness that distinguishes the whole thing. As a photographer, I am curious to know how it was made. Was it lucky happenstance or posed?”
