The Beauty of Zero

The Beauty of Zero is comprised of data, details, processes, people, case studies and content that brings to life the aesthetics of net-zero energy. This presentation is our community’s collective vision of a beautiful carbon neutral National Capital Region. Join our community in visioning and working toward a beautiful net-zero energy future for all.

Defining a Net-zero Energy Building
  • A building that is highly energy-efficient and produces onsite—or procures offsite as necessary—carbon-free renewable energy in an amount sufficient to offset the annual energy use associated with operations.

Introduction

What makes a building beautiful?

This exhibition reaches beyond visual aesthetics to explore all ways in which buildings have the potential to engage and inspire the human spirit. We see beauty in engineering and design breakthroughs that drastically reduce carbon. We see beauty in the care and attention put into creating net-zero building details. We see beauty in inclusive processes that promote greater equity in our communities, in nature, and biophilia that supports health and well-being, and in art that inspires joy and creativity.

The Net-Zero Energy Coalition aspires to connect leaders in creating a beautiful net-zero energy future. Within this exhibition, you will experience an evolving collective vision for a future that is carbon-free, life-affirming, and born from cooperation.
